Clarke to helm Midget AAA Selects

PICTOU — The Northern AAA Subway Selects have a new head coach.

Craig Clarke is replacing long-time subway coach Troy Reid at the Selects’ helm, although Reid will remain with the organization as a consultant.

The Selects welcomed Clarke to the program and expressed thanks to Reid for his many years of dedicated service to female hockey in Pictou County.

“Coach Reid has been a pioneer in developing female hockey here in Pictou County and has helped the program reach unprecedented heights in terms of female hockey success,” Selects president Steve Halliday said.

“From multiple provincial titles over the years to an Atlantic title and an appearance at the Esso Cup this year, Troy’s dedication, knowledge and commitment always got the best out of his players. We owe him a sincere debt of gratitude He will be missed but we are fortunate to have him remain on as a consultant with our new staff.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Craig Clarke who brings a new vision for the upcoming season,” Halliday said. “The team is very pleased to have him join our program at the head coach level. Craig has an excellent hockey mind and has had great success in recent years in the female program. We are very excited to have him on board this season.”

The team will be managed by Dana Landry, who is staying on for a second year. Other staff positions will be announced following the spring identification camp scheduled for May 21.

There is still time for players to register for the camp. It is open to all female midget-aged players born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
