Police charge a 40 year old adult male after two-vehicle collision

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 40 year old man with multiple offences after a two motor vehicle collision on June 7.

On June 8 at approximately 7 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police arrested the accused at a Forbes Street, New Glasgow, residence.

The accused, from New Glasgow, was arrested as a result of an investigation of a two-vehicle collision that took place early in the morning on June 7.  The collision involved the driver of a grey Mercedes SUV and a blue Jeep at the intersection of Almont Avenue and Bernard Street. The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene and the lone female driver of the Jeep was treated by Emergency Health Services at the scene for non life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles suffered extensive damages and Almont Avenue was closed to traffic in both directions for approximately two hours.

The Mercedes driver was remanded into custody and charged with:

  1. Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.
  2. Failure to stop or remain.
  3. Driving while disqualified/prohibited.

He will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou today, June 11.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
