NEW GLASGOW – The Pictou County Weeks Crushers have been selected as hosts for the third annual Maritime Hokey League Showcase on October 8 and 9 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The showcase is an opportunity for all 12 MHL teams to play in one designated area so that college and professional hockey scouts from across North America can see the league and scout its players.
This is the third season for the showcase. Truro and Summerside have previously hosted the event.
Games are played with two 25-minute periods and will commence at 1 p.m. each day with the last game starting at 7 p.m.
More information regarding ticket information and schedule will be announced at a later date.
The Crushers will open their regular season on September 13 when they host the Valley Wildcats.
Each MHL team will play 24 games at home, 24 games on the road and two games at the MHL Showcase in October.
The Crushers will play all 24 home games at the Wellness Centre with 20 games at 7 p.m. on Thursday,
two games on Monday at 7 p.m. and for Family Day at 5:30 p.m., one game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and one game at 7 p.m.
The Crushers will face off against South Division rivals Truro, Valley, South Shore and Yarmouth seven times and Amherst eight times.
They will face teams in the North Division twice, once at home and once on the road.
