Cape Breton based publisher Boularderie Island Press is hosting an evening of readings and music by five Nova Scotia writers: Susan Cameron, Bill Conall, Gwen Davies, Mona Knight, and Charlotte Musial at the Anglican church hall (1919 Sunrise Trail, Hwy 6) in River John on Saturday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m.
Susan Cameron is the author of the novels A Fragment of May and These Four Walls, as well as a collection of short stories Bridgewater Bound.
Bill Conall recently released his collection of short stories Some Days Run Long. His novel The Promised Land: a novel of Cape Breton won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour in 2014. His earlier novel, The Rock in the Water, was short-listed for the same award.
Gwen Davies is the author of the short story collection Facing the Other Way. She has also taught writing and has run the Community of Writers retreat in Tatamagouche for over 15 years.
Mona Knight is the author of the western Banjo Flats featuring a gun-slinging female protagonist and is the first in the Fortune Saga series of books.
Charlotte Musial is the author of the poetry collection The Night Life of Chairs. Her fiction, essays and poetry have been widely published in literary journals.
