RIVER JOHN — People of all ages are enjoying the floating dock system Kenny Langille has assembled in River John.
“This is the second summer (for the dock),” said Langille, who lives in nearby Welsford.
His daughter Victoria was having fun swimming along the dock and doing underwater handstands where it was about four feet deep near the river’s edge.
“She’s here every day, all day,” he said. “She started swimming here on May 1.”
Various craft visit the dock, which had a small motorboat, two canoes and two rowboats tied to it last week.
“There may be more someday,” he said.
Langille also constructed a diving stand and slide in the river’s channel where the depth is generally around 20 feet. The channel passes near the dock system on the river bend.
Langille built the dock before a more substantial dock along Bissell Park was built and dedicated last year. He helped build the Bissell Park fixed dock and thinks it’s great that there are now two options for residents and visitors.
Langille also likes to fish in the river. His catches include bass and mackerel. He is also among those who erect a smelt shack during the winter and reported good catches last winter.
