RCMP investigate assault with a weapon

LINACY – Police are investigating after a complaint about an assault with a weapon.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, Pictou District RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon at a home on Merigomish Road in Linacy. When police arrived, they were advised that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed several times by another unknown man. The suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a third man. The victim also departed the scene prior to police arrival.

RCMP officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later and arrested the 23-year-old driver and 31-year-old passenger, for assault with a weapon. Both men remain in custody.

The victim was located earlier today (Monday) and police verified that he sustained stab wounds to his upper body, and he was offered medical treatment.
