NEW GLASGOW – The Salvation Army is about to kick off its Christmas Kettle and toy campaigns next week.
The agency’s Angel Tree program is part of the toy campaign, with all families with children of infant age to 14 years welcome to apply.
Registration times are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Salvation Army Church in Westville and on Thursday at the Highland Square Mall, near the Bell Aliant store.
Residents in the area of the Pictou West Food Bank register with the Star Wish program from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Pictou.
Toy pickup will be on December 17 at the Salvation Army Church.
The Angel Tree at Highland Square allows supporters to choose one or more tags that contain names of children and suggested toy items to be donated.
The kettle campaign will have its official launch on Nov.16 at 7 p.m. at Highland Square Mall near the Tim Hortons outlet. Kettles will be distributed around the community and will be picked up on December 22.
The Salvation Army is also hosting a Seniors Christmas Shopping Party from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 8 at the community and family services building in New Glasgow.
