New Glasgow Regional Police were called to the scene of a two- vehicle collision last night, Nov. 13.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., police, along with the New Glasgow Fire Department and Emergency Health Services responded to a two motor vehicle collision on East River Road in front of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
The collision involved an 18-year-old male driving a Volkswagen car. The second vehicle involved an SUV, driven by a 58-year-old female. Both vehicles were travelling southbound on East River Road.
Both drivers and three passengers in the SUV were not injured.
The car suffered substantial damage and caught fire as a result of the collision and had to be towed from the scene. The SUV vehicle sustained minor damage.
East River Road was closed for approximately 60 minutes in both directions.
Police are in the preliminary stages of the investigation and continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
