FREDERICTON, N.B. – The Pictou County Peewee AAA Crushers won their first three games before dropping their quarter-final match at the Buster Harvey Memorial minor hockey tournament last weekend in Fredericton, N.B.
The Crushers opened the tournament against the Restigouche Red Wings with a 2-1 win. Scoring for the Crushers were Wyatt Spence and Kaden Smith with assists coming from Landon Steele, Lane Sim, Cade Moser and Ben Manos.
Jorja Burrows was solid in nets for the Crushers.
In the second game the Crushers beat the Fredericton Capitals 4-3. Scoring for the Crushers were Clint MacLaughlin with a two and singles coming from Moser and Steele.
Moser collected two assists, while MacLaughlin, Spence, Manos and Ben Marchand had one each.
Alex Palmer was solid between the pipes in the win.
In the third game Sunday the Crushers had a big game against their Mainland League rival West Hants Warriors, beating the Warriors 3-2. Scoring for the Crushers were Dominic MacKenzie with a pair and Kingsley Austin with the winner late in the second period.
Assists came from Kaden Smith, Caden Campbell and Sim.
Crushers faced the eventual silver medal winning North West Pionniers in their quarter-final match, losing a hard-fought game 3-1.
Scoring the lone goal was Spence, assisted by Owen Conrad.
The Crushers next see action when they resume Mainland League play against the Yarmouth Mariners on Saturday and Sunday in Yarmouth.
