The Pictou County Weeks Crushers’ next home game on Thursday will not be the same upon learning of an enthusiastic young fan’s passing.
Daniel Arsenault, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a young age, passed away Friday. He was 18 years old.
The Crushers shared the news that Arsenault’s mother confirmed with the Maritime Hockey League and its other member teams and fans.
“Daniel has been a big supporter of the Crushers for a very long time,” noted Crushers’ general manager and assistant coach Chad McDavid. “News of his passing has been difficult for our players, past and present. With that being said, we can’t even begin to imagine how difficult a time this must be for his family. The entire Weeks Hockey Organization has Daniel and his family in their thoughts.”
News of Arsenault’s death was shared before the Crushers’ game last Saturday in Truro, where they defeated the Bearcats 5-3.
McDavid said the Crushers were to attend visitation as a team on Monday.
Arsenault’s funeral was scheduled for Tuesday.
