NEW GLASGOW — The annual New Year’s Eve Resolution Fun Run has taken on a new dimension in a different place.
Family First Night celebrations hosted by the Town of New Glasgow on December 31 will coincide with the run and help participants ring in the New Year from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glasgow Square.
The events are free to the public.
The evening will end with an early countdown to the New Year and fireworks.
The run had a ceiling of 300 entries with items that went with pre-registration and is already sold out. However, race director Terry Curley said anyone is welcome to take part.
Curley said the partnerships between Johnny Miles Running Events like the Resolution Run with the town are welcome.
“I think it’s great that the town feels our events are good ones to partner with,” he said. “I think what we’ve been trying to do and what the town is trying to do is develop partnerships that utilize Glasgow Square like the Miss Miles and Turkey Trot do, and now the Resolution Run. I couldn’t be happier.”
The 300 person cut off is up from 200 a year ago.
The familiar loop from the Square across the George Street Bridge, along Abercrombie Road, Terrace Heights and Terrace Street before turning across the bridge to the square will be applied and patrolled.
