The former John Brother MacDonald Stadium in New Glasgow is being razed to make room for a new structure – adult housing being built by P.Q. Properties. The demolition began Monday.
Verhagen Demolition is doing the work and is currently gutting the inside of the former rink.
Built in 1950, the Stadium had been home to the Weeks Crushers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League from 2004 to 2012. It was renamed John Brother MacDonald Stadium after local sports legend, teacher and radio broadcaster John Brother MacDonald, in 2004.
