Bombers host Truro Sunday

The Pictou County Wear Well Bombers will host the Truro Bearcats to wind up their regular season in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League on Sunday.

The teams will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

The Bombers will visit the Joneljim Cougars in Cape Breton on Saturday.

The games follow a weekend split of two home games for the Bombers, who defeated the Valley Wildcats 7-4 on Saturday before bowing 4-3 to the first place St. Margaret’s Bay Gulls on Sunday.

Lucas Canning’s second and third goals of the game iced it for the Bombers. Singles were added by Blaise MacDonald, Landon Sim, Kiefer Avery and Cameron MacKinnon.

The Bombers outshot the Wildcats 33-20.

The Gulls outshot the Bombers 35-19 but needed a late third-period goal to pull out their win on Sunday.

Canning tied the game twice with his two goals. MacDonald gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Canning is second in points with 37 goals and 25 assists entering this week.

The Bombers briefly claimed fifth place with Saturday’s win but enter the week alone in sixth place.
