WESTVILLE — The Bedford Oilers are Bradley Crowther Memorial Midget C minor hockey tournament champions.
The Oilers defeated the Lancaster, N.B. Trojans 6-1 on Sunday to clinch the championship. They were among three teams from Bedford and 16 teams in total in the tournament.
Lancaster defeated the East Hants Penguins 4-2 to reach the final, while the Oilers advanced with a 4-3 overtime victory over the host Westville Miners.
Keegan Murray, Jachob Greene and Nick Horne scored for Westville, who led 3-2 until the Oilers tied the game with five seconds left in the third period.
In other games, Horne’s two goals led Westville’s 4-2 victory over Island Oxygen.
The Penguins got past Pictou 1 and Thorburn 2 to win their division.
Luke MacDonald posted the shutout in a 3-0 win over Pictou 1 over Thorburn 2.
Brady Bowering scored for Pictou 1 in a 2-1 loss to the Penguins.
The Trojans advanced past the Stellarton Royals and Thorburn 1 in their division.
Dominic Bond scored three goals for the Royals in a 4-4 tie with the Trojans. The Royals posted an 8-1 win over Thorburn 1 and defeated the TASA Ducks 6-3 in their other games.
The Oilers won their division that included the Trenton Steelers and Pictou 2.
Clark Robertson scored three goals on the Steelers’ 6-3 win over the Oilers.
