Peewee AAA’s edge Hawks


PICTOU – The Pictou County Peewee AAA Crushers edged the visiting Halifax Hawks 2-1 on Saturday in a Peewee AAA hockey game at the Hector Arena.

The game was the Crushers’ last one before their participation this weekend in the Nova Scotia Mainland Peewee AAA Hockey League Championship to be played in Yarmouth.

It was a fast-paced with Keegan Dalton and Caden Campbell scoring for the Crushers and assists coming off the sticks of Landon Steele, Lane Sim and Clint MacLaughlin.

Jorja Burrows and Alex Palmer split the goaltending chores for the Crushers.

The game followed the Crushers trip to Cape Breton the previous weekend for a pair of exhibition games against the Glace Bay Miners.

The Crushers won the opener 1-0 despite outshooting the Miners 23-9.

Cade Mosher scored twice and the Crushers rallied from a 3-1` deficit to edge the Miners 4-3 in the second game.

Kaden Smith and Dalton also scored.

Amias Crossman had two assists, while Dalton and Ben Manos added one each.

Palmer recorded the win in goal.
