With Easter approaching everyone’s sweet tooth kicking in, the Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary has the solution with its new fundraising event, Chocolate Spring Fest.
The group is partnering with the Nova Scotia Community College in Stellarton to celebrate spring and all things sweet with the new event.
“There will be a mini fashion show and chocolate desserts,” said Elaine MacDonald, president of the auxiliary. Sweets and chocolate desserts will be provided by the talented Gilles Godin, culinary program instructor at the NSCC. MacDonald added that the fashions displayed during the show will be from Martha’s Place, the gift shop in the hospital, for those looking to check them out before or after the show. The shop will even be hosting a 20 per cent off sale from April 13 to 21 to celebrate the holidays and fund raise.
Chocolate Spring Fest will take place at the NSCC in the main lobby on April 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. and there will also be door prizes, raffles, crafts and more; tickets are $20 with proceeds going back to the hospital. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gift shop.
MacDonald added that all donations and help to the auxiliary are always appreciated. She mentioned that for their fundraiser Michaels craft store has generously offered help as well.
“We don’t just sign a cheque, we work to get the money to donate,” she said.

While they are in the swing of spring, auxiliary members are also hosting a Garden Party fundraiser which consists of members selling seeds and bulbs from Vesey’s Seeds Ltd. with Vesey giving 50 per cent of the sales back to the auxiliary to help beautify the hospital grounds. Seeds and bulbs are available by contacting auxiliary members or the gift shop.
