UPDATE: New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate as pedestrian dies later in hospital
NEW GLASGOW – On May 1 at approximately 10:28 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police and Emergency Health Services responded to a 9-1-1 call and attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a 2016 Lexus and a pedestrian at the McDonald’s Restaurant driveway exit and East River Road.
The 81-year-old male pedestrian from New Glasgow was crossing the driveway exit, when the driver of the Lexus, who was exiting the driveway, collided with the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was on the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian was transported to Aberdeen Hospital and later died yesterday (May 3) in hospital.
New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
The driver of the 2016 Lexus, a 76 year-old male from Pictou County was charged with failing to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk under the Motor Vehicle Act.
