Tensions rise for Lobster Cup wrestling

PICTOU — Last year’s Pictou Lobster Carnival Professional Wrestling event ended in what some would deem a controversial decision as The Patriot walked away a two-time Lobster Cup winner.

This year’s event on Saturday starting at 7 p.m. at Hector Arena will allow the drama to pick up right where it left off when The Patriot returns, as well as heavy hitters Riddick Stone and Kowboy Mike Hughes. The question is, will the Patriot’s deplorable antics continue unimpeded or will he finally receive his comeuppance?

The family friendly professional wrestling event will also feature Maritime favourites Covey Christ, The Black Mamba, Lil’ Blay and Jeff go head to head in tournament action to prove they have what it takes to be the victor for this year’s coveted Lobster Cup.

And for the first time in Pictou, women’s wrestling will take place with Chantal debuting straight off her West Coast US tour. This one-night event is not to be missed with fun and excitement for all ages.

“This is a great fundraiser for the Pictou Lobster Carnival, and it’s a lot of fun for everyone,” Pictou Lobster Carnival chairman Shawn McNamara said. “It’s always nice when we can host an event that not only provides a night of entertainment for the entire family, but helps the Carnival continue.”

The Pictou Lobster Carnival takes place July 5 to 7 with a stacked lineup of entertainment.

Tickets for the wrestling are on sale in New Glasgow at Big Al’s and in Pictou at Woody’s Variety, Millside General Store, Lyons Brook Rite Stop, Miller’s Dairy Bar and East End Grocery. Advance tickets are $15 and youth (12 & under) and senior (65+) tickets are $10, while tickets at the door are all $20 each.
