NSCC’s Pictou Campus will celebrate approximately 280 graduates during a convocation ceremony on June 13 at 10 a.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The ceremony is one of 21 convocation celebrations taking place across the province to mark the achievements of more than 4,500 NSCC graduates.
All convocation ceremonies will be live-streamed and will be available to re-watch on YouTube in the days following the event.
“Convocation is an opportunity to celebrate an important milestone in each graduate’s journey to achieving fulfillment in their lives and careers,” says NSCC president Don Bureaux. “We’re honoured to play a role by instilling skills, knowledge and experience that can spark economic and social development and innovation, and ignite a brighter future for Nova Scotia.”
Cody Reddick, a graduate of the Welding Inspection and Quality Control Diploma program, has been chosen as Pictou Campus’ valedictorian (biography). He represents the achievements and experiences of the class and will address attendees during the ceremony.
A number of additional awards recognizing student achievement and success will also be presented:
Robert G. C. Sobey, a fourth-generation, family-business member and the corporate director of Empire Company Limited, will also address attendees as one of this year’s six honorary diploma recipients. An honorary diploma recognizes outstanding leadership and service to our community. It is reserved for those who, through their own innovation and commitment, have contributed to the quality of life in Nova Scotia.
