PICTOU — Animal advocates are expected to gather outside the Pictou Provincial Court House tomorrow, as they have in the past, for the sentencing of David William Oakley of Sylvester on animal cruelty charges.

Oakley was charged on two counts of failure to provide adequate food for an animal, one count of striking an animal with an axe, and eight counts of causing unnecessary suffering of an animal.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of unnecessary suffering and one count of striking an animal with an axe while the Crown, Kevin MacDonald, withdrew the rest of the charges.

Oakley’s sentencing on the three guilty pleas is set for tomorrow.
