It’s time to get putting for some of Pictou County’s pets as the annual Kathy Skoke-Fortin Memorial Golf Tournament ramps up for another year.
This tournament has been going for about seven years as a fundraiser for the local branch of the SPCA in Granton.
Each year, proceeds raised from the event go towards helping the shelter operate as well as enabling upgrades and improvements to the equipment used for the animals in the local shelter’s care.
“Every penny raised at this golf tournament goes to Granton,” said Vince Angst, event organizer. Auction items are all donated by local businesses, Angst shared. In preparation for the event, he visits businesses looking for donations to help the cause.
This year’s tournament will take place at Glen Lovat Golf Course on August 25, beginning at 1 p.m. For a team of four to take part the fee is $360 or $90 per person. The tournament is an 18-hole best ball, shotgun start format including a power cart and a putting competition and prize holes will also be a part of the day. After a day of golfing, teams will enjoy a barbecued steak dinner, silent and bidding auction.
Registration for the tournament can be done by calling 902-754-2433 or 902-396-3595. Or sign up by emailing email@example.com Registration deadline is August 19.
