East Coast music is famous for its storytelling and the emotion packed into every song. This year’s Jubilee Songwriters Circle is part of the Carlton’s Community Bash taking place on Saturday. This year’s host of the songwriters’ circle is Steven Bowers who is excited to come back and be a part of the community-oriented event after taking part as a participant in the past.
“This year I reached out to the committee,” Bowers said. With singer-songwriter music being what Bowers does for a living, he is well equipped to take a lead in the event and share some of his own stories. “I think I was heavily influenced by a lot of the singer-songwriters I listened to.”
Joining Bowers in the circle this year will be Carter & Tristan of Sore Loser, Karol Brown and Matt Fifield to share their stories and techniques about how they write their songs.
“I just love these types of events,” said Bowers.
This year’s songwriters circle is part of a new Jubilee feature called Carlton’s Community Bash named after the former executive director of the Jubilee, Carlton Munroe, who passed in 2017 after his battle with Glioblastoma. Munroe was dedicated to the spreading of music in his community and helping artists propel their career.
“He was really good at bringing people together,” Bowers added.
