School is back in today so motorists need to remember to slow down in school zones.
Today is the first day of school in Pictou County and New Glasgow Regional Police are reminding drivers that driving slower is safer in school zones – 50 km/h school zones become 30 km/h zones, when children are present.
In areas where the speed limit is above 50 km/h, the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/h. Look for the signs, reduce your speed when driving in a school zone.
Police urge motorists to remember to give yourself plenty of time and expect delays if you are dropping off your child.
