Scotians prepare for first home game

TRENTON — The Pictou County Scotians will host their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League home opener on Sunday at 6 p.m. in Trenton.

The Scotians are coming off a 9-6 victory over the Eskasoni Junior Eagles on Sunday in the second of two road games they have played so far this regular season.

Tyler Long scored three goals and one assist and Matt Chediac added a goal and three assists to lead the Scotians’ attack.

Parker Stewart, Hayden Burgess, Ryan MacLellan and Connor Aucoin also scored.

Nicholas Laffin was in the Scotians’ goal and stopped 37 of 43 shots.

The win reversed the Scotians’ 5-4 shootout loss to the Cole Harbour Colts.

Stewart, MacLellan, Coy McCrudden and Robert Burrows scored for the Scotians in regulation time.

The Scotians led 4-2 in the third period but the Colts tied the game with 52 seconds left. They outshot the Colts 32-22.

They are tied for third in the Syd Rowe Division standings.
