There are still several chances for the 2019 Dream Vacation Draw ticket holders to win one of the trips that are available through the deCoste Performing Art Centre’s annual fundraising campaign, but they’ve already kicked off the 2020 campaign.

“We’re excited to be starting a little earlier this year,” says marketing manger, Jennifer MacLennan, who also indicated that they sold the last of the 700 tickets on their final day of being open before closing for the holidays last year, which was Dec. 21. “There were many who were disappointed they didn’t get in the draw.”

The campaign has been running for many years and offers ticket purchasers an opportunity to have their name put into the monthly draw for a wide variety of trips. “This year our total prize value comes to $38,000 which, in addition to the 12 trips to places like Cuba, Mexico, Scotland, England and more, also has four monthly draws of $120 which gives our supporters the opportunity to win their ticket purchase back. We also have two early bird draws this year,” explains MacLennan. For those who get their tickets before November 30, the early bird draw will take place during the Dec. 5 performance of Tis the Season with Bette MacDonald. The prize will be a weekend getaway to Pictou Lodge Resort during their annual Beer Fest Weekend.

Another bonus prize is available for those who purchase their 2020 deCoste Memberships with the Dream Vacation Draw tickets. This early bird prize be two free VIP tickets to all the shows in 2020, which means they will have front row seats at all the shows. “The prize value would be well over $2,000.”

“It’s a really great way to get the best bang for your buck,” indicates MacLennan. “Instead of paying the regular full price of $35, you immediately save $5 off the membership price by paying $30, but in addition we provide a $25 coupon that can be used throughout the year towards one of our shows, so the individual basically only pays $5 for their membership.”

Looking through the deCoste’s fall program book or on-line at their website (decostecentre.ca) there is a long list of businesses throughout the Pictou County area who provide a 10-15 per cent discount on their services or products to members. As well, they receive discounts on a number of the shows, including several two for the price of one deals and a Free Members night (usually in the fall).

This year’s Free Member’s night is Nov. 7 featuring Ryan Cook and Sunny Acres, an eclectic country/western and swing ensemble.

MacLennan says, “We’re also launching a new loyalty program in the new year for our members as part of our new ticketing system, so with every ticket purchase, 15 per cent of the cost of the tickets gets accumulated so that once you’ve come to several shows, you’ll be able to start getting a discount on future ticket prices, or save enough of the points up to receive a free show, much the same as Cineplex does with their SCENE points.”

Dream Vacation Draw tickets are easy to access by contacting the deCoste box office Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or they can be ordered online at decostecentre.ca. Tickets and memberships will also be available each night of the shows prior to and during intermission in October.

“This is one of our major fundraisers we hold each year, and it’s key to our success each year as it helps us to bring in some amazing acts and look after the upkeep of the building. We’re always so thankful for the support of the region.”
