The Pictou County Wear Well Bombers split two games last weekend in Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League action.

The Bombers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Novas of Antigonish on Saturday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre before defeating host ACCEL Physio 5-3 on Sunday in Halifax.

Logan Crosby scored two goals on successive power plays late in the third period to lift the Bombers past ACCEL.

Crosby leads the Bombers and is seventh in the league in points with 13 in their eight games based on eight goals and five assists. Ben Wallace has four goals and four assists in eight games.

“He’s playing really well,” Bombers head coach Jon Sim said, regarding Crosby.

Cade Mason also scored twice, while Reese Smith got the other goal.

The Bombers trailed 2-1 after the first period and took a 3-2 lead into the third period.

Crosby scored both goals for the Bombers against the Novas, who clinched the game with an empty-net goal with 20 seconds left in the third period.

“Saturday’s game was really good,” Sim said. “We played really hard. We had lots of chances to score but their goalie played well. Sunday was a continuation of Saturday but we got the goals we didn’t get on Saturday. The kids are buying in and playing well.”

Jorja Burrows was in the Bombers’ goal for both games.

The Bombers will visit Cole Harbour on Saturday and host the Truro Bearcats at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday in their next league games.

The Bombers are tied for ninth place in the league standings.
