Gushue gets results at Grand Slam

Brad Gushue is in form and has been a fan favourite at the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling.

Gushue’s St. Johns, N.L. team followed his 6-4 victory over the Scott McDonald foursome from Kingston, Ont. on Tuesday with a convincing 7-3 triumph over the Niklas Edin team from Sweden in the evening draw on Wednesday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

Gushue is the defending Grand Slam champion and has won 11 Grand Slam events. His next test as scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday against Team Howard.

Meanwhile, the Ottawa team skipped by Rachel Homan also went to 2-0 after a 7-5 victory over the Japanese team skipped by Sayaka Yoshimura.

Homan is the defending champion and has won a record 10 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s titles. Her next match is a key one against the Winnipeg team skipped by Jennifer Jones in the 8 p.m. draw.

Kerri Einarson’s team from Gimli, Man. defeated Team Carey 6-5 on Wednesday and was scheduled to meet Team Fleury at noon on Thursday.
