Fraser taking time off for personal matters

Local MP Sean Fraser shared a heartbreaking sentiment to his political Facebook page yesterday shortly after noon sharing that he would be taking some time off from official duties for personal matters.

The message posted is below:

Dear friends,

I am sad to share some heartbreaking news on behalf of my family.

In the early hours of December 3, our newborn daughter, Ruth Caroline Burton Fraser passed away in her mother’s arms with her dad holding her hand, despite the best efforts of the medical team assigned to her care.

Though her life was short, every moment was filled with love.

We sincerely appreciate the love and support of our families and close friends at this time of unspeakable difficulty.

I am taking some time away from my official duties to be with my family. As such, I have not been able to keep up with my usual routine of taking meetings, attending community events, and do not expect to take my seat in the House of Commons until Parliament resumes in the New Year.

My constituency office remains open to assist those in need, and staff have been assigned to continue moving forward with projects that typically require my personal attention.

For those wishing to send condolences, we ask that you make a donation to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IWK Health Centre in lieu of flowers.
