Arrest made in Tara robbery

The New Glasgow Regional Police has laid charges against a 37-year-old man from New Glasgow in connection with the armed robbery at the Tara Inn on East River Road that occurred on December 21. 

At approximately 5:42 a.m. on December 21, police received a report that two males entered a guest room at the Tara Inn and left with an undisclosed amount of money and property. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to look for the second suspect, described as a male caucasian approximately 30 to 35 years of age, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, medium build, clean cut beard. 

In addition,  police continue to look for a second vehicle, described as a dark coloured four-door sedan. 

As a result of the armed robbery, investigators from the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit have charged the suspect with the following:

  • Robbery with a weapon 
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a controlled substance 

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court at a later date.
