Kelsey Hann go-kart screening draws crowd

PICTOU — The Hann family feels gratified for the gathering last Thursday to view a documentary about Go-Kart racer Kelsey Hann.

The documentary called Winning is a Close Second premiered last Thursday at the deCoste Performing Arts Centre in Pictou.

Kelsey Hann responded to questions from the audience after the screening.

“It was a great turnout,” Hann’s father Graham Hann said. “People had great questions for Kelsey.”

Toronto-based Black Sheep Productions, led by Brandon Cassidy, completed the production last fall and were able to release a rough copy of it in December. It was a final video project for Ryerson University students in their graduating year.

“I wanted to be able to present it in Pictou County first,” Graham said.

Now 17, Kelsey has been driving go-karts for 10 years. She races near Moncton, as well as in Ontario and a racing series in Quebec.

She plans to races during two trips to Florida in January and March.
