The Pictou County Weeks Crushers will host the Amherst Ramblers on Saturday in an effort to end their current losing streak in the Maritime Hockey League.
The teams will meet at 7 p.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
The Crushers have lost their last five games, including a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Truro Bearcats on Thursday.
It’s also the Crushers’ third straight loss on their current home stand after winning six of seven games in December. They briefly shared first place in the South Division with the Yarmouth Mariners, who now lead them by nine points.
The Bearcats scored twice in each of the first two periods and yielded a single goal by the Crushers’ Evan Gallant in the third period.
The Crushers outshot Truro 31-28, including 12-7 in the final frame.
Newly acquired goaltender Ewan MacDonald replaced starter Matthew MacLeod to being the third period.
The Crushers clung to second place in the league’s South Division despite the loss, while the Bearcats trail them by just two points.
