Kindness can come in unexpected ways.
This week, it is coming from two young men and the beneficiary is Summer Street.
Last week, Maxime Grandmaison, a Weeks Crushers hockey player, suffered a serious injury in Amherst. He was transported to hospital in Moncton, underwent surgery and is now recovering.
This prompted the Whittemore family of New Glasgow to respond in a positive way. Grandmaison is their billet son, so they wanted to help however they could. They decided to embark on a fundraiser.
With the family’s permission, the Whittemore’s son, Blair, is selling Grandmaison’s favourite Mars bars at Thursday night’s Crushers hockey game at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
Paying it forward, Grandmaison has asked that all funds raised be donated to Summer Street.
Anyone who purchases a Mars bar – for a minimum donation of $2 – from Blair Whittemore at the Crushers game Thursday will be supporting Summer Street, at the behest of two community-minded young men.
