Steinhart Distillery just keeps on winning.
The small Nova Scotian distillery led by founder Thomas Steinhart has once again found podium on the international stage.
Thriving in international competition is nothing new for the Arisaig-based business. Despite its short five-year history, Steinhart Distillery has medaled in competitions spanning the globe from Germany, to Great Britain and China.
Steinhart Distillery, which took home the ‘Best Canadian Classic Gin’ award in 2018, returned to the London World Gin Awards in 2019. This time around, Steinhart’s famous Classic Gin was awarded ‘Best Canadian London Dry Gin’. Steinhart’s Haskap Gin – a unique take on his classic recipe which features Antigonish, Nova Scotian grown haskap berries – garnered bronze distinction in the ‘Best Flavoured Gin’ category.
Halifax-based Compass Distillers also found success in the World Gin with several categories . Steinhart was ecstatic to see another a fellow Bluenose distillery on the podium, saying; ‘It’s thrilling to see Nova Scotia not only represented, but flat out winning in international competitions. This is a huge win for the Nova Scotian craft spirits industry.’
2019 also saw Steinhart Distillery take home two medals from the Gin Masters Competition in Hong Kong, China. Once again – Thomas’ Classic Gin and Haskap Gin blew away judges. Steinhart’s Classic Gin once again won Gold in the London Dry Gin category with the highest mark of all entries, which the Haskap Gin garnered silver in the Flavoured Gin catergory again highest mark of all entries nobody got a gold there. Each product was top in their respective category (no product across the competition won gold in Flavoured Gin).
