NEW GLASGOW – The CEO of one of Pictou County’s largest seniors homes, urges people to make a difference and stay home.

Glen Haven Manor’s Lisa M. Smith said, “This is our time to make a difference. Not tomorrow. Not next week, but today! The only way to prevent the spread of this virus is to be swift, strong and to fiercely strive to be ahead of it. We cannot risk it coming through our doors. We need to stop and slow down the chain of transmission.”

Glen Haven is home to 202 residents, 20 tenants in assisted living and a team of 300 health care workers.

“We are poignantly aware the most important and effective thing we can each do is to minimize the spread of the virus. It begins with each of us as individuals, as organizations, as communities and as humankind,” Smith said. “I am asking everyone to come together do everything in our power to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to prioritize the most vulnerable and those who care for them- everyone in our organization, our community and our province. We need everyone to be safe; otherwise no one can be safe.”
