Wear red today

Community Featured Online First

People are being encouraged to wear red today in honour of all of the victims in the tragic events that unfolded in Portapique and surrounding communities last weekend.

At 2 p.m. today, RCMP members and employees will honour RCMP Const. Heidi Stevenson, who was killed in the line of duty, by observing a moment of silence.

Stevenson graduated from Depot, the RCMP Training Academy, in 1996. She spent most of her career in Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Halifax County, Halifax District and Enfield. She also served three years with the Musical Ride.

The flowers being delivered to detachments and vigils being planned across the country are testimonies to the many lives she touched locally, nationally and internationally.
