Pictou County business owners and entrepreneurs are being invited to participate in a 10-minute online survey.

The Pictou County Regional Enterprise Network (PCREN) and the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce are launching this survey to better understand the needs, opportunities and challenges faced by the local business community now and in the future.

“Over the last few months, businesses and community members have been faced with challenges and hardships that we could not have imagined,” said Sarah MacIntosh-Wiseman, CEO, Pictou County Regional Enterprise Network.

“At the PCREN, we have been hearing from and working with our business community. We have been helping to inform about and to navigate government supports, creating online marketing tools (such as a Support Pictou County Businesses Facebook Page and website) and exploring options to continue business. This is one more tool that will help to inform this work.”

Business owners are being asked about their current and anticipated operations, including changes in staffing and sales to better understand what supports and services are working for local businesses; and to explore what additional supports will be needed. Information gathered will help to inform local immediate and long-term solutions.

“Our business community is diverse and each business is unique with shared and individual issues. Our hope is that this survey will provide some insight how we might be able to provide assistance to ease the pain created by COVID-19” said Jack Kyte, executive director, Pictou County Chamber. “Understanding the needs is the first step.”

The survey will be available at until May 18. For those who have difficulty accessing the survey online, just call or text the PCREN office at (782)-440-3480 or email Staff will assist individuals with accessing the survey online or will take responses by phone. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
