Canada Day festivities cancelled

Many people are expressing sadness at the cancellation of Westville’s Canada Day activities.

The organizing committee announced via Facebook that the event for 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding it.

“Even with the seemingly improving COVID-19 situation in Nova Scotia and the rest of the Maritimes, it has become apparent that we will not be permitted to hold events with large crowds which covers all of our Canada Day Events so we must cancel Westville’s Canada Day celebrations for 2020 and look towards 2021 for which planning has already started,” organizers write.

All is not lost however; the volunteers are working with the Town of Westville’s Recreation Department on a potential event for the Labour Day Weekend, if Public Health restrictions allow.
