Two men arrested in relation to thefts from vehicles

New Glasgow Regional Police arrested two adult males from Pictou County on Tuesday, May 19, in relation to thefts from vehicles in the New Glasgow area. The thefts from vehicles occurred throughout New Glasgow in the last couple of weeks.

A 26-year-old man was charged with multiple counts of:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Theft from vehicle
  • Breach of probation .

A 21-year-old man was charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property

The 21-year-old was released with strict conditions and will appear at the Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date. The 26-year-old was remanded into custody.

Several stolen items have been recovered by police.

“This is clearly a crime of opportunity, where criminals will primarily focus on the unlocked vehicles, despite having a lot of people at home during COVID-19 isolation,” said Const. Ken MacDonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police
