Many businesses will be opening up on Friday, but the The Pictou County Wellness Centre will continue to remain closed until further notice.
In light of recent announcements from the province regarding the easing of COVID-19 policies and procedures, Wellness Centre management is currently in the process of developing a return to business strategy, however this strategy will take time to develop and implement.
“We are anxious to get back to business and know that time will come but we must act responsibly to ensure the safety of our staff, users and the community as a whole before we reopen,” said Shannon MacInnis, chairman of the Pictou County Wellness Centre Building Authority.
The Wellness Centre has started to work on a reopening plan that will take into consideration the most current COVID-19 guidelines, safety and fiscal responsibly. New information around return to business policies and procedures are developing daily and management is working with several key stakeholders to ensure their plan is as comprehensive and well thought out as possible.
“Developing the return to business plan is like creating a whole new set of operating policies and procedures; there are many factors to consider and it will take time to develop, approve and implement these new plans,” said Greg Smith, COO of the Pictou County Wellness Centre. “Our goal is to protect our community and develop a sustainable plan that will allow us to remain open on a permanent basis. We are confident that when we reopen our users will be able to enjoy all that the Wellness Centre has to offer in a safe environment” said Smith.
The YMCA of Pictou County is a tenant of the Wellness Centre and as such may work on a separate reopening schedule with approval from the Wellness Centre. The Pictou County Wellness Centre will continue to work with the Y to support their reopening plans and schedule as much as possible.
