A 60-year-old woman was charged on August 6 with four counts of abandoning a child, Section 218 of the Criminal Code.
The charges stemmed upon a lengthy investigation, where New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a distress call on July 29 that four young children were left in a vehicle at the New Glasgow Walmart parking lot unattended.
Emergency Health Services responded and transported all four children to the Aberdeen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a precaution; the children were later released.
The children ranged from ages 1 to 9 years of age, three girls and one boy.
The accused, from Pictou County, has been released and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date.
