Approximately 600 needles were found discarded in New Glasgow.
On Monday, Nov. 9, at approximately 1 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a complaint of needles being found near the railway tracks behind the New Glasgow Legion area just north of George Street.
“Police have searched the area and have located approximately 600 needles that were improperly disposed of, in this location,” said Const. Ken Macdonald.
“Teaching small children not to pick up these items when found becomes extremely important to parents and / or guardians.”
New Glasgow Regional Police is requesting that anyone who finds a needle and would like assistance to properly dispose of it to contact police at 902-752-1941 or their local pharmacy for assistance. To properly dispose of needles, you can also visit the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia website located at https://pans.ns.ca/public/programs/safe-sharps.
The New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate the origin of the improperly disposed of needles.
