Pictou County District RCMP have charged a Fox Brook man with attempted murder and arson following an incident that occurred Monday evening.
RCMP were called to a residence on the Granton Abercrombie Road in Abercrombie following a structure fire at approximately 9:28 p.m. on January 4.
Police attended the residence, which was fully engulfed in flames, and located a man and three women outside the home. The man sustained life-threatening injuries. The women did not appear to be injured.
A man known to the victims had entered the home, sprayed a fire accelerant at the victims and lit the accelerant. The suspect then fled in a vehicle.
Police located the suspect a short time later at a residence in Fox Brook and he was arrested without incident. He was taken to hospital by EHS.
Daniel Kenneth Stewart, 52, of Fox Brook, has been charged with:
· Two counts of attempted murder
· Three counts of arson – disregard to human life
· Arson – disregard to human life causing bodily harm
· Aggravated assault
· Four counts of mischief over $5,000
· Being unlawfully in a dwelling
The investigation is ongoing.
