AELLA Choir at Pictou United
July 10, 2019 –
On its first ever tour, Ottawa’s AELLA Choir will be performing a collection of favourite works, curated from three years’ worth of performances, at Pictou United Church, 47 James Street. These include concerts that have explored women's stories and experiences, a memorable Kitchen Party, and AELLA’s very first program, which was a celebration of Canadian music. Admission by Freewill Donation.
AELLA is a treble ensemble founded by Jennifer Berntson, which performs without a conductor. Initially started as a pick-up choir for a single project, AELLA is thrilled to have become a part of Ottawa’s rich choral scene! The ensemble has been described as "everything modern choir should be – innovative, technically precise, joyous, comforting and representative" (Andrew Riddles, Classical Ottawa). They enjoy singing a mix of genres – from traditional choral repertoire, to challenging contemporary music, to pop – but mostly, they enjoy singing with each other.
