40th anniversary Sutherland Steam Mill Museum
August 10, 2019 –
Please join us as we celebrate our 40th anniversary as part of the Nova Scotia museum family and begin brand new demonstrations of the mill in motion. For the first time in almost 20 years you can see the massive 130-year-old steam engine, nicknamed “Hercules”, chugging away and driving the Oxford sawmill. A lucky few may get a chance to blow the steam whistle which can be heard for miles. All this has been achieved using pneumatics (compressed air) and with the invaluable assistance of Craig Anthony of Kennetcook NS. Mingle and enjoy oatcakes and apple pie while being entertained by the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Don Haggart. The Sutherland Steam Mill Museum is located at 3169 Hwy 326, Denmark,. For more information call the mill (902-657-3365).
